Philippine Science High School-Central Visayas Campus (PSHS-CVisC) initiated a GAD Capacity Building Seminar for members of the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS). The online event that was conducted today, November 29, 2023, via Zoom, aimed to enhance the participants' understanding and skills in integrating gender perspectives into policies, programs, and projects. It included providing participants with knowledge about gender issues, analysis tools, and strategies for promoting gender equality and women empowerment in various development contexts. The aim was to build the capacity of PSHS-CVisC personnel to mainstream gender considerations effectively, advancing more inclusive and equitable development outcomes.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Rachel Luz V. Rica, Director III and GFPS Chairperson, shared how PSHS-CVisC fosters gender equality and women empowerment. There were three phases of the webinar. Miss M.E. Myrel M. Siason, DOST 7 GAD Focal Person, talked about Sex-Disaggregated Data Collection. Miss Venus D. Retuya, DOST 7 Management Information Services Unit (MIS) Head, shared about the Use of the Gender-Fair Language Tool. Lastly, Mr. Dale Rae B. Panuncia, DOST 7 Computer Programmer, MIS Unit, covered Cyber Security Awareness. In his closing remarks, Mr. Marco Lorenzo R. Camarillo, SSD Chief and GFPS EXECOM member, challenged all the participants to continue to advocate for gender fairness and women’s rights.
The event was conducted as part of a series of activities in the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women.
