PSHS CVisC hailed 1st runner up in Genetics Camp 2021

The COVID-19 situation did not hinder Pisay CVisC scholars from participating in this year's UPLB Genetics Camp (GenCamp), which shifted online in light of the health crisis.

Team CVisC competed in four of the five contests in the conference. Jorge Arnold Chan was declared champion in Essay Writing. In another event named GENErate: A Breakthrough Video Contest, the group composed of Heart CastaƱares, Raffy Alidon, Rophi Condor, and Micah Ceniza, all Grade 11 scholars, won first runner-up for their video entry Edible Vaccines, which elucidated the possibility of developing plant-based vaccines for infectious diseases.

Other participants were Geness Dacillo (Essay Writing), Shannen Morikawa and Darena Allosada (Digital Poster Making), and Glycel Agang-ang (Young Genetics Ambassador).

PSHS-CVisC was proclaimed the overall first runner-up.

The faculty members who coached the scholars were Ms. Princess Albiso, Mr. Wesley Barcoma, Mr. Ranulfo Cala, Mr. Mark Lester Canubas, Mr. Arlo Chavez, and Ms. Joanne Pilapil.

A total of 11 schools nationwide participated in the virtual event.

GenCamp is an annual conference geared towards promoting the science of Genetics and the field's advancements to secondary students of the Philippines.
