Participated by 14 campuses, the PSHS Campus Journalism Summit was successfully hosted by Philippine Science High School-Central Visayas Campus (PSHS-CVisC)from July 25 to 27, 2016 inside its campus in Argao, Cebu. With this year's theme "Pressing forward.", the event was joined by four campus journalists and two school paper advisers from each of the PSHS campuses.
Highly-regarded resource speakers Mr. Marvin Enderes of Colegio San Agustin, Ms. Mercelle Therese Matundan of PSHS-Central Luzon Campus, and Mr. Pocholo Gonzales and Ms. Ada VinaCuaresma of CreatiVoices Productions presented series of lectures in the three-day summit. Among the focal topics discussed were layout and design of school papers, script writing for TV, voice modulation, and script reading.
The summit also focused on providing authentic feedback on collaborative publishing outputs, as well as reviewing important concepts in layout and design. Steps in the preparation of TV broadcasting script were identified and was followed by the development of a sample script. Significance of voice in the delivery of script from an actual TV broadcasting was also discussed.
PSHS-CVisC director,Dr. Warren D. Cordeta spearheaded the warm welcome of the participants and personally handed the Certificate of Recognition to Mr. Enderes at the end of the first day of summit.
Held at the evening of day two of the summit was the annual meeting of school paper advisers which highlighted the election of new set of officers. Institutionalizing of the SPA association and topics for the next summit were brought up.
The 5th PSHS Campus Journalism Summit will be held at PSHS-SOCCSKSARGEN Region Campus.
